Why has my BEKO fridge freezer CDA659F stopped working?

The fridge and freezer compartments have stopped being cold and I can hear a slight noise from behind the unit like its trying to work but not quite getting there. The light still works so its not a question of power. Any suggestions of what it might be? Thanks.
