Mend Van Starting Problems

Combo Van starting problems?

Hi
I have been driving my van for a while now with no problems but this morning it wouldn't start just makes a clicking noise when I turn the key and the battery is flat. Is this just a battery problem, dont want to pay for a battery if its not the problem.
Can anyone help

try charging your battery,you didnt say if it was a 1.3 or 1.7,on the 1.3 there is a hub on the alternator drive at the belt that is bad for slipping resultin in battery eventually going flat,try turning centre of hub with your hand,any movement means it is faulty,to save money remove alternator and tack hub with mig welder if you have one,done loads of these,alternators are expensive.
