I presume its diesel? as its got heater plugs. Check the relay that controls the plugs. They have been known to fail. However I thing the problem is most likely to be an air leak on the filter housing. Either the pipes (most probable) on the housing its selt is leaning on the bleed plunger. If it is replace with new they are not expencice

Hi Mark, try the coolant temp sensor, not the one for the gauge, it's probably giving the wrong output to the ecu making it think the engine is already hot/warm so not giving the correct fueling for a cold start
