having problems with my van,red light came on telling me something was going on with the battery,couldnt start van,put in new battery,fighted up for one second then died.still cant start

hi i have a fard escort 55 van 1.8d mk5 i have just put a engine in it i have ignition lights but engine will not turn over with the key i have bridged the starter and engine turns over but still does not start

sounds like altenater check belt is tight if it is get altenater checked
