Mend Black and Decker Steam Advantage Heats Iron

turns off as soon as it heats up?

My Black and Decker Steam Advantage iron heats up almost to the temperature setting, then goes direct to Auto Off and cools down. After it went to Auto Off, I moved the dial to the off position, left it plugged in, and returned to find the handle/area near the base warm, even though the iron was turned off.

If your Black & Decker Steam Advantage iron switches to Auto-Off as soon as it heats, the auto-shutoff sensor or thermostat is faulty. The handle staying warm even when set to OFF suggests an internal control issue. This is a safety risk, and continued use isn’t recommended — replacement is usually the best option. Auto-off operation is explained in the manual here:
