Phillips TV / MatchLine?

I have this same problem as stated below. Should I unplug it and the plug again to reset? Please help? It's about 8yrs old.

{(The TV suddenly stopped working earlier and the standby light is flashing. It is a Philips Matchline TV, approximately 10 years old, and has always been otherwise reliable. I would be grateful for any advice on how to fix this/have it fixed and suggestions on what could be causing this.)}
