toyota model 2260?

i cant remember how to alter the tension on the stitches ? the lower stitches are skipping and the top stitches seem fine ;ie six or seven stitches seem fine then i get an inch long stitch what am i doing wrong please help

Try a new needle first of all, the tip may have gone off the needle or it may be slightly bent, failing that you may need to retime the machine, top tension about 4 or 5 and make sure you can only just pull the bottom thread through with slight resistence.
