Mend Diesel Fuel Pump Starting Problem

how can i check the fuel pump on my combi van 1.3 diesel?

My combi van started to cut out today, started and ran for a few minutes, electrics eg guages all reading wrong for a while and naw it wont start at all. Seems like its getting no fuel, im guessing the fuel pump is u/s but not sure where to start looking. Its a 04 1.3 diesel and has recently been serviced
