Could be either a faulty fan or control board.
Most likely to be a faulty fan.
An easy job to replace and takes about half an hour.
The hardest part will be getting the impellor off/on. Make sure you use a new star washer.
Take care not to damage the finned matrix of the extraction unit as you remove the fan.
However your Humidex 8 is about 10 years old and Ebac themselves no longer carry spares for this model. I found this out as I contacted them a couple of weeks ago for a fan for my Humidex 8. My fan works ok, but it is noisy as the bearings are worn.
You will have to try and find an independant supplier for the fan. They are available for other models. Cost about £50 including delivery
Wouldn't suggest scrapping the Humidex as they are an excellent dehumidifier and in my opinion better than the later ones.
I have just bought an Ebac POWERDRI and don't think it as good as the Humidex. It certainly is a lot more noisy. It struggles to do the job that the Humidex does with ease.
