Mend Volkswagen Mk IV Golf Door Lock Failed

Door mechanism failure, Mk IV Golf?

My passemger door lock has failed and I cam no longer open the door even from inside! To get to the lock mechanism I have to remove the door panel....but to remove the door panel I have to open the door to get to the fixings! Can anyone help?

A mobile car locksmith might be a solution for you - my guy had a little inflatable bag (air wedge) that "sprung" open the gap between glass and panel - he then hooked the mechanism open. Bingo! Two minutes work.
