quickfix?

I have electrolux diplomat and the on off switch is non responsive i cant figure out how to open to see if i can switch it on and then just pull the plug to turn it off am i in the right direction or is this sound like bigger problem than i think

The very common broken switch rocker. You have to pull off the trim strips on either side to split the halves. It's a $2 part. You only want to take it apart once.
