Having opened the internal bell box thing by mistake (I thought it was the door bell) and closed it again, the red tamper light is now permanently on. The alarm has gone off randomly a couple of times too… not the full outdoor alarm luckily, just the internal bell box thing.
Entering the code at the control panel switches off the alarm when it sounds, but the red tamper light is always on.
I've been given the following advice, but would like to double-check before I start tinkering.
I need to open the internal bell box thing again and make sure that a switch thing is properly deactivated, before closing it and screwing it shut again.
I need to touch together a white and a green wire. I'm assuming these will be in the main panel rather than in the bell box thing.
I also have the engineer's code. Will entering this do the trick?
I've called an engineer out, as the bloomin' thing's beaten me.
Thanks for the reply though Dave.

Well I pressed the RESET button once and it beeped, but when I pressed it again... nowt.
The keypad's no longer working.

Wow... that was a fast response Dave. Thanks!
The keypad still seems to be working.
I'll try pressing RESET twice as you suggest as soon as I get home. Fingers crossed!
Might as well 'fess up that I wanted to deactivate the door bell on 31 October, so the trick or treaters didn't drive us (and the dogs) crazy. But mistook the doorbell box for the alarm one. Doh!

Stu.,
Has the alarm system closed down completely or are you still getting responses from the key pad?
Normally, if you have opened the internal sounder and caused a tamper indication, screwing the lid back on will leave the tamper light on. Try pressing the RESET button twice and see if this clears it.
Regards.
