gilera smt?

hi i think the carb has allreddy been done on my gilera smt. the bike only has 1100miles on it with 1 previous owener. does the air box have a restrictor? i just changed the spark plug and it was black does this mean anythink. and are there any other ways to make the bike faster with the standard parts thanks lewi
