Elna Lotus EC Type 15?

Hi,
I have the User's Guide and all the instruction I need on how to thread the bobbin. However I spent endless hours trying to get the thread out of the center where normal it is hooked on after lowerng and then raisin the needle. Looking at the bobbing, I just can't see how it will hook onto the upper thread through the needle when the bobbin it does not move neither its thread. The only thing that rotates around is the casing / the housing that the bobbin is dropped in to it. I am missing something - please help. I have been doing exacly what the instruction indicates but absolutely no luck.
