The main burner fails to shut-off when the hot taps are closed, this causes pressure to build up & blows one of the hoses. Any suggestions please how to rectify? Thanks.

The manual says that the automatic gas valve is defective, and you should stop using it immediately and call the dealer.

try contact with www.palomawaterheaters.com contact and see if they are kind enough and care enough to tell you why while waiting a reply from someone who has had same problem.
