modem keeps shutting off?

how do i fix this problem? how do i clean the fan without hurting anything. what else can i do to stop this problem.

Right, modems only have a life exparency of about 3 and a half years and when it starts to play up all you have to do is call up your network (A.O.L), Virgin media, Tiscali brodband the one that you are with, call them up and say my internets playing up i need a new modem or someome to have a look at it, it shouldent cost a penny

I have never heard of a modern (last twenty years) modem with a fan. Are you sure that you are asking the right question about the right box?
