all dvds stop periodically and stick there. ?

dvds stick and stop then they start up again and stick, skip and stop. i have cleaned the disc player with one of those disc cleaners several times and i have cleaned the dvd's. new ones, old ones, any ones stick stop and start. drives me crazy. is there a way to clean the machine besides using a disc cleaner or is there and adjustment we can make. can you provide me with a replacement?
