Emachine & Advent PC problems?

i always let my computor stay on every night because i have webroot and it dose automatic scans when the computor is in idel mode...my monitor screen always goes dark because no signal...when i get up in the morning i always go to computor and wiggle the mouse and the screen always comes on and than i log off...this is all normal...however this morning the screen would not come up it said no signal when i wiggled the mouse so i hit the space bar and the computor made a ding sound...this is the sound that a computor makes when it is froze up and you hit a key so i made the assumtion the computor was froze up and i turn the pc off manually waited 10sec and turn it back on to reboot...it got to the normal screen that always says verifying pool data/boot from cd...it normally than takes about 30sec to 1min to move on to the log in screen...i waited 3min and it did not move to the log in screen so i manually turn the pc off and tried it again but got the same result...had to go to work so i did not have time to give it more than 3min to get to the log in screen...should i give it longer or is there a promblem with my computor? note 2 days earlier i notice my pc making a sound that it normally makes when you first start it up or put in a cd...as if something was trying to run...it done this for several min with the sound going on and off like it was reving up and down...it stopped after several min and it never happen again...the computor was working fine then and since until now so i don't know if that is related to the reason my computor froze in the first place...
