How to get to switch on electrolux tank type vacuum?

You need to remove the two side panels. They have a rubber piece and plastic slide underneath. The plastic piece have little teeth at the front end making it difficult to remove. I used a flat end screwdriver to push the body away from the plastic while pulling on the plastic with needlenose plyers. I'm trying to fix or replace my on/off switch, but have just now figured out how to open up the canister.
