LG washer direct-drive motors are "brushless" type motors.
If the washer displays an "LE" Error--this may be a failed Hall Effect Sensor.
Two things to be aware of:
1) If the tub "shutters" and does NOT rotate--this is usually a failed Hall Effect Sensor.
2) If the washer is unplugged for a few minutes and then begins to function normally--this is usually an indication that too much detergent has been used. In the US-market consumers must use laundry detergent labeled: "HE". This a Low Suds type detergent specifically made for low-water use washers. I am not familiar with detergents sold in Europe but I will assume that most (if not all) detergents in the UK & Europe are identical to the "HE" type detergent in the USA since top loading washers with an agitator are likely rare in markets outside of the US.
The following amounts of detergent are recommended for LG washers:
HE (non concentrated): (2) Tablespoons Per Washload
HE 2X (double concentrated): (1) Tablespoon
HE 3X (triple concentrated): (1) Teaspoon
