Removing our faulty burglar alarm?

As far as I know fully power down including the back up batteries in the main control box and external bell.
This was how I was told by the engineer who collected the control centres link box.

Notify the control IF it's connected to a control centre[mine was] they need to know if the alarm goes off it's not the real thing. On mine was an extra white box under the alarm next to the power in box which was the controls connection box. We notified them to collect it as we weren't using the alarm as the property is always occupied.
