Can I use a Scantronic 9448+ panel without door contacts ?

I have replaced my old security system panel with a new Scantronic 9448+ model.. Originally did not have Door contacts as the original installation only used PIRs.. Installing and programming the 9448, I don't seem to be able to enter the bldg. without triggering an instant alarm and not having the entry time delay. Is this due to not having door contacts?
If so can this be worked around or do I have to install the door contacts for it to work as required?
