Icemaker problems - Kenmore side by side?

All of a sudden the ice maker refused to manufacture ice. I pulled the unit out to make sure no stripped gears or broken parts - everything ok. When re-installed, the ejectors go to home position ( about 2 o'clock) but no fill. after about an hour the fingers start to move but only get about 1/2 yhru cycle.

Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. I can't switch from crushed to cubed ice, only crushed ice comes out. Also, how can I remove the cover on the outside of the freezer door where the ice comes out?
