hoover ecologic?

My machine washed then stopped and would not spin out,Washer man said it needed new brushes.Changed these,washer ok,worked,a week later it stopped again,it seemed the same thing.Washer man came back said it was something different,and said not worth mending,but did I want to buy a reconditioned machine from him!Now it's filling but not progressing from there,although the water pumps out.
Any ideas?
