how can I fix the door on a rav 4 when lock is stuck on lock position?

How can I fix the drivers door on a rav 4 when lock is stuck on locked when door is open and cannot close the door?

if you put a screwdriver or similar in door latch and whilst pulling handle you should be able to open latch.
