Hi, You say you bought a VGA cable and plugged it in, but you get no picture or sound. I presume you plugged it in to the back of your tv. To get picture and soung on your TV you are going to have to make a change or two to the pc. You may prefer to contact the fujitsu help department to help you with this. It may cost a bit but you may feel happier to do this!!!!!
If it all goes wrong, I cannot take any responsibility for this because I do not have a similar machine in front of me and these are general guidance instructions only, which would apply in many situations.
Boot up your laptop, and look at the screen, near the bottom of the screen there will be an instruction which should say something like 'to enter setup press 'del''. Setup is where you need to be. So close down the machine and let it stop. Now boot up the laptop again and after a few seconds press the 'del' button or whatever your pc tells you to press. You may need to press it a few times. Assuming you did this you will be faced with a screen you have probably never seen before. DO NOT PANIC, you cannot lose data or damage the pc.
You will be faced with probably a blue screen with two lists / lines of information or writing on it. This screen is called the BIOS and it stands for 'Basic In Out System'. This controls all that the machine does and the interface between the base machine and all of the component parts of the machine.
Using the arrow keys to move about the screen. Press enter to enter the first line, a new screen will appear. The Instruction you are looking for will be 'Allow dual screens' or 'allow internal and external screens simultaneously' or something similar. The probability is that it will only give you TWO options DISABLE / ENABLE or ALLOW / DISALLOW. If this is set to DISABLE or DISALLOW then set it to the other option i.e. ENABLE or ALLOW. If this instruction is not in the first line, press esc, this will move you back to the first screen you saw. Move down to the next line using the arrow keys and click the enter command, a new screen will open. Look for the same instruction as above, if it is there change it as outlined above, if not press esc and go back to the first screen, move down to the next line and repeat until you have the instruction you need.
Assuming you have found the instruction and changed it, you need to look at the menus at the top of the screen and select the one marked exit using the arrow keys. Bring this one up and it will ask you to exit and save, press yes (y) you may need to press the enter key as well. The machine should now exit this screen and boot up normally, and you should have vision and possibly sound on your TV. In case you cannot find the top menus, if you press the F10 button at the top of the keyboard this will bring up the exit screen press yes (y) you may need to press the enter key as well, the machine will now exit and again you should have vision and sound on the tv.
You may not get sound on the tv, depending on the tv and the computer (I do not have the information you have to be able to say categorically, as there are so many variables). If there is no sound on the tv, you can use the speakers on the laptop, however these may not be adequate for your needs. In that case, you may be able with the right cable, to connect your laptop up to a portable hi-fi or a fixed unit and use the sound capabilities of that to produce a much better sound.
Lastly your laptop should be able to play films on the laptop by itself, you may Need something called a CODEC. Please contact Fujitsu's help line for this as each CODEC is specific to each machine and I cannot help you with this one.
I hope you found this information easy to follow and that it helps you, good luck!
Regards
John Bates
