broken hi hat stand?

i have a problem with my hi hat, the pedal won't go down.. PLEASE help.

Hi,

Daft question, but have you undone the securing screw on the top cymbol then tried pressing the pedal??

If so try squirting some WD40 or similar oil down the stand from the top and try to keep working the pedal.
