Mend Gear Van Pull

Is it sumwhere between the axles I put gear oil?

Me van makes a kind of quick whirring noise when I pull out, after 1st gear is selected,... It probably lasts for no longer than 20 seconds.... Does anyone know what this means? I'm thinking that gear oil may help? All ideas eagerly listened to, I'm no mechanic!
