2002 ford transit 90 t350 durashift?

my van will not start unless i tap the hpu pump under the nearside next to the gearbox this tap will let the van start and off i go and after a few miles the van will not cgange gear and have to pull over ant tap the hpu pump and off i go and so on tap drive can someone tell me what is wrong thanks .

get it sorted ASAP! If it fails completely while you are driving, it will go into 'Park' and lock the wheels whatever speed you are doing.
