I had the same problem, the cause is a defect on the control-unit.
I replaced the pcb and everything is working just fine!
Just be prepared to spend a couple of bucks, the control-pcb is the most expensive spare part next to the compressor-unit.
Changing the control-unit is fairly simple;
- pull the power cord!!
- remove the two white caps left and right of the display
- remove the two screws that become visible
- pull out the control-unit and remove the plastic film (keep it, the new control-unit is missing the plastic film)
- remove the cables from the control-unit
- attach the cables to the new control-unit
- assemble in reverse order
- put the power cord back in
That's all
