thank you!! BUT, how do I get the plastic piece you step on to retract the cord off, to get to the screws under there?

Open the bag door cover and keep opening it until you think it will break. It will pop out completely, giving you access to two screws. the other two are under the plastic part that you step on to retract the cord. voila!
