1st try set of spark plugs if that not the cause you will be looking at replacing the ignition coil pack which sits on top of the spark plugs a knock sensor will not cause a misfire

got a 99 v plate pug 406 2.0 16v petrol that has been misfiring since I got it. only happens under full load, loses power, ie doesn't accelerate for a couple seconds from low revs (2500 and below) then pulss but can hear misfiring. have driven round the problem, but was wondering if the knock sensor faulty. if this where would I locate it?
cannot afford to take to pug to plug in their expensive machines, lol
