Mend Vauxhall Vectra Immobiliser Key Fob

Vauxhall Vectra key fob/immobiliser problems?

My remote fob is not transmitting, can anyone offer any advice as to what could be the problem and how I can fix it? I've replaced the battery but someone suggested to me the problem may be with the "contacts" - I've no idea where they would be or what they would look like!!!
