PAM I have been where you are, done it and wore the T shirt twice. It's very annoying isn't it. I'm assuming you had no virus protection or a firewall installed or enabled when you got this thing. Don't call it by it's name it is a thing. Macafee is very good at what it does, it has stopped several trojans in their tracks on my own PC. But it has to be fully updated and on to do any good. It won't do much good now after the fact. What I suggest you do is join a website on the internet called www.whatthetech.com They have support forums you can join to help you with spyware and malaware problems. They will tell you to download programs like HIjack this and killbox etc. You then post a copy of what's in your registry and the guy on the other end who is usually very experienced in these matters will direct you step by step in how to go about getting rid of the things you do not want on your computer. Ie this stupid trojan program you have masquerading as an antivirus program. Usually by downloading other tool programs that can kill and maim viruses, trojans and spyware (yippee). You may have to do all this via a friends computer or maybe a public one. That is visit the site, copy all the tools to a disc and take them to your own PC for running and diagnostics. I can't see how you will get internet access going while this thing is on your pC. Unless you have 2 PC's. It may also take a few weeks as you have to post and wait for the dude to get back to you etc. But it's a free service and you can't grumble at that considering the help you will get would be costl;y in a PC shop.
