I have a Homelite mighty light blower model 26b. The pull to start string will not return after it is pulled and the engine starts. My question is do I have to pull the engine off of the unit in order in replacethe spring for the return.
Mine did the same thing on the 2nd pull out of the box. I fixed it by taking the plastic cover on the bottom off and using a screwdrive to move the flywheel just a bit. That got it to retract again. it ran fine all day after that. Now 3 weeks later I cannot get it to start at all.

Good luck. I have just taken off the bottom of the blower only to find that the main nut that attaches the blower to the engine has been glued together.
Will let you know how I go
