Mend Epson DX8400 Problem Copy Computer

scanning problem?

my new printer , a epson dx8400 all in one, will print, copy but will not scan from the computer. A display comes up saying unable to start scan there may be a problem with network settings,please use troubleshooting assistant which ive done without any sucess.

Is your scanner connected directly to the PC USB port. I had this problem when I used a USB hub
