I have a sony VAIO laptop, when I turn it on, the wireless button is switched on, and the green light shows. When i log into my account after about 15 seconds the little green light turns off and I therefore disconnect fromt he internet. How can i fix this?
This may help someone who searched for this answer:
I went to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections
I then right clicked "Wireless Network Connection" and hit "Enable". And there! Wireless Connections Galore!

I had same problem. Go to the Smart WI Connection Utility either by the tray icon or in your programs using the start button (lower left corner). On my Vaio a little gray and black window pops up with 3 options: Cingular, WLAN & Bluetooth. Click on the WLAN. That should return the light in the laptop and allow you view wireless networks>>hook up to internet. Hope it works!

Somehow, there are some drivers/programs loading on startup that disable it. Remove the startup programs until the problem is resolved. Frustrating.
