p1darbs... I would recomend if you are not sure what you are doing do not attempt the job! the timing is relativley simple with a safe mark on the crank pulley and on both camshaft pulleys there are marks in and ex (inlet and exhaust) which line up next to each other.the camshaft pulleys (when removed) also have 2 slots in them which have to be set correctly... again in and ex on the dowels of the camshafts. with the crank pulley removed there are 2 dots which line up each side of a pointer. I will point out that land rover now have a nodified head gasket and bearing ladder which requires sump removal to fit, along with modified coolant hoses and thermostat. Again I will stress... if you are not sure don`t attempt it. head torques are 20 newton metres then 180 degrees then 180 degrees again. starting from centre bolt work your way out in a clockwise direction. head bolts are female `e`tork 12
