My Whirlpool tumble dryer (model AWZ 121) tumbles, but has no heat?

Whirlpool tumble dryer (model AWZ 121) tumbles, but has no heat?

What is wrong - is it simple to fix myself - which parts needed?

Thank you.

Our drier is making a really loud noise when it is on, more so when it tumbles in one direction than the other. It has been like that for a while but now it has stopped heating up, I have read the instructions above on how to change the element but wondered if the noisy problem might work out expensive added to the price of the element. If you could help I would be most grateful.
Kind regards

The heater/thermostat has blown. as they are a combined unit you have to purchase the whole unit.
Part number: WP481225928675
Cost: Approx £40.00 (I have just purchased and fitted one to mine)
Fitting is relatively simple:-
Remove the two screws holding the top in position (at the back), lift the back of the top and move to front, it will then lift clear.
Remove the green, white and earth connections from the back panel connection (where the mains lead comes in)
Remove the LH and RH screws on the back panel and lift this clear.
When this is removed you are looking at the back of the drum bearing. There is a raised tin cover attached to this. The heater unit is behind this. From the bottom of this you will see a small finned unit sticking out with two rods and some wire on it. Disconnect the green and white connections.
On the tin cover there will be at least two, maybe four hexagon headed bolts. Remove these bolts. By flexing the tin plate the heater unit will come out of the open bottom.
replace the heater unit and reconnect the cables as noted before.
Assembly is a reverse of the above.
Takes about 20 minutes
Good luck

I am experiencing the same problem at the moment, and there are two types of thermostat in this machine, I have been able to eliminate the first by conecting a table lamp to the power leads to the conectors that fit onto the thermostats at the heater and I have no power coming through so as I understand it, that indicates that it is the exhaust/airflow out thermostat that is faulty.
