Mend IBM Automatically Shuts Off

Computer Automatically Shuts Off?

My Computer is shutting off automatically within a couple minutes of turning it on. I tried to do a virus update to see if I had one, but I can't even get it to stay on long enough. It turns off even when not connected to the internet. Any idea how I can fix this? This is an IBM Compatible machine.

It may be too hot. Have a look inside and see if it is full of dust - if it is blow it clean. You could also look at the BIOS (if you know how) to see what the temp limits are. It could also be a power supply problem. A bit difficult to diagnose if you are not very goood with hardware.
