Need help with my Canovision 8- Canon E06 8mm Video Camera & Recorder?

I recently discovered my parents old Canon E06 Video Recorder. At first i thought it was a great find since it actually turned on perfectly, but then it automatically shut off. I thought it was the battery so i plugged the camera in and even with the continuous flow of power it still shuts off after 2 min of turning it on.

I just really want to know what is going on. And if anyone could recommend a repair shop or something that would be great!

Happy to see, that other fanatics are not giving up on the good old Canovision 8! Mine was in "DRYDOCK" for nearly 10 years and the bateries are dead. Replaced all batteries but still the door does not lift to give access to the loading area for the tape. Same here, the red light on the power on switch starts blinking but other than some moaning and groaning, nothing happens. There is a picture in the viewfinder and the zoom functions and autofocus work but no tape loading seems to be possible. Willing to spend $ 100.- to resurrect the unit .Any ideas? will send the booty via paypal to anybody who can help!

Only one cogged belt and that drives the tape spools and looks to be fine.
I have managed to get a picture to appear on the TV, but only in black and white, and now with about 4 or 5 hours of the tape running and rerunning a few flashes of colour have begun to show, but picture quality is very poor.
What seems to be a problem is the SP and LP tape speed indicators keep flicking between the 2 and you can see the tape slow up for a moment or two.
Not sure if more lubrication is needed, But I have found the two tape guide spindles and the one that is after the tape has gone around the tapehead, it is ajustable, less than a quarter turn and you can see the difference on the screen.

I too want to get a Canovision E808 running.
It will power up and load the tape sometimes.
I have taken the side off to watch the mechanism load the tape and could see that the lubrication had dryed out somewhat, so put a few drops of light oil, using cocktail stick.
It now loads the tape a lot better, but the main problem appears to be with the motor that drives the tape head, It is making a funny noise as if it is driven by some coggs underneath and is not engaging properly, Will to take it apart more see what is happering there..
It will run up to speed if I give the tape head a spin start with your finger.

tape will run for a short while, But no picture is visible on the screen.
