Sometimes when removing a virus or a trojan, parts of the windows registry that deal with the TCP/IP protocol become corrupted and need to be reset to a clean state.
This can easily be done using a built-in networking utility called "netsh". This utility program is used on the "command line" (ie in a DOS window) with a number of "switches".
If you exactly follow these directions, you should be able to fix your problem:
1. Click on "Start" then click on "Run"
2. Type "cmd" without the " " into the box and click on "OK"
3. After a DOS window appears, type the following at the command line prompt (flashing underscore cursor):
netsh int ip reset c:resetlog.txt and press the "Enter" key
When the cursor reappears, close the DOS window. Check that your local area network is enabled and start your Internet browser. Type in a URL such as http://www.google.com and click on "go" or press the enter key. Your Internet connection should now be working.
