Change direction of the belt :)

Just to add, what I found on mine is there a plastic piece that’s sort of a guide about halfway of belt path. When mine broke it dug a groove into that plastic so the new belt always eventually came off. I used the bigger clamp style paper clip to cover the groove and make the guide there again. Seems to work

When replacing the Dirt Devil's belt on the rotating steel shaft, it saves 'wear and tear' on your fingers to use a smaller-size flat head screwdriver to stretch the belt into correct position. With the vac's brush end facing up and the brush pointed toward the user's right, put the belt the shaft with the twist toward the user. Every time I put the twist away from me, the belt always fell off. Now my 2 Dirt Devils are finally working like champs!

Yes, reversing the twist of the belt works.

One thing to try, is to reverse the direction of how you twist the belt to hook it on the belt shaft. one direction will always slide off, and the other will not. this is due to the direction of the turn of the brush roller.

It is quite possible the body has overheated, and warped.
This will mis-align the belt pulley, allowing the belt to slip off.

Try rotating the belt 180 degrees from how it was attached.

is the belt in good order? is there anything fouling the drive pulley? have you checked the beater bar ends for crap?
