Mend Kenmore 116.36923500 Vacuum Progressive

How can I fix my main brush on my newer Kenmore vacuum?

The main brush does not turn at all. It's a Progressive upright with Direct Drive (so there's no belt). The motor for the brush does not try to spin at all on any setting. I've tried resetting the breaker for it, but that didn't help. I've also cheked for loos wiring connections to no avail. Any electrical parts that commonly fail? Model No. is 116.36923500

I might be late with this, but there's a circuit breaker. It's a small yellow button in the top of the brush assembly, and it's labeled "reset".

If this won't stay set, odds are the brush is bound by dirt, carpet fibers or hair, or the bridge rectifier on the motherboard is shorted.

You must be comferatble with a meter and testing the unit while it is turned on before attempting to find the cause of your problem.

The first thing to check is the brush itself, this can be done with a good 9V battery and 2 jumper wires. Do not test it with an AC jumper cord from the wall, as it is a DC motor. If the motor runs, next test the output of the Rectifier board. You will need to test it with a meter. You are looking for 100~140 Volts DC from the two wires going to the brush motor. If the voltage reading is not within spec, check the small switch inside the motor compartment where it hinges with the base to make sure it is being pushed when the nozzle is in the down position. If it is out of place or the switch is faulty, the rectifier board will not get the 120V and brush roller will not run.
