how can i repair the lcd screen on my sony DCR-HC42E it is just blank?

There is no picture on screen it is just black but you can presss the screen and hear the buttons being activated and see the screen through the viewfinder, how can i repair?

hi, mines just done exactely the same. Black screen but you can hear the touch screen still working and the viewfinders ok.
did you guys get any joy with repair or sony??
any help greatly appreciated

I have taken mine apart and one of the flexible circuits is completely broken. It cannot be repaired and a new flexible circuit is needed. I'm going to try the service centres, see if they'll sell one.

I read somewhere else on the interweb that US customers were getting the repair for free.

I have the same issue. The fact that the viewfinder works is good news, it means the CCD is still OK so I'm hoping it's just a ribbon issue. I'm going to take it apart today and see...
