How can i fix my Sony HVR-A1E touch screen?

Hi there,

I have a Sony HVR-A1E and have recently discovered that the touch screen is not healthy... All of of a sudden the P-Menu options are not going to their correct assigned options and are only providing me with very few options... One option which is not working is the Main Menu button which i was hoping to use to rectify the problem... There appear to be problems in both Camera mode and playback mode... The camera still records ok, but the lack of options is proving a hindrance... I have tried to reset button to no avail and the manual suggests i try re-calibrating but the problems with the buttons going to the wrong places doesn't allow me to access that option.

Any advice or suggestions you can give would be welcome...

Your Cameras require a new LCD FPC, which you should contact 1st Aid Repairs in Tunbridge Wells.

I have exactly the same problem. The menu works ok when the screen is flipped and folded back against the camera body. I have no idea how to fix it but if I find a solution I post here.

If anyone has any answers or suggestions please post. Thanks Richard

I have the Sony HVR-A1U and have same problem which just started two days ago. It does work when folded against the camera body. But the reset did not work. Is this a bad cable between the camera and touch screen?

I found a temporary solution here. Apparently if you flip the screen and turn it against the camera it works normally. I tried it and it works.

Have you found a solution to your problem. I have exactly the same problem with mine. The P-menu options are doing the same as yours. It shoots ok, but i can't access any of the options.
