how can i add an other harddrive?

i need to add an extra harddrive to my computer both of the hard drives has windows xp on them as i dont have alot of disk space at all please can anyone help me on what to do urgent many thanks brian

If the additional space can be allotted for file storage, get an external drive (USB or Firewire). Sounds like you may only have USB compatibility. Easy to add (plug and play).

Open your PC case, locate the thick grey cable attached to the back of your existing hard drive. You should find a second connector attached to that cable further towards the motherboard. Attach another hard disk drive to that cable and connect a power supply and away you go.

The above is for Parallel ATA drives and not Serial ATA drives.... SATA drives use smaller single connector cables

Without saying what the PC Make and model are, your question is not really answerable. Some can Some can't.

If you have a mainstream make: IBM, HP/Compaq, Fujitsu-Siemens, Dell you can download manuals from their webs sites and work out whether you can or not.

Alternatively you could buy a USB attached external drive for archiving.
