How Can I Fix My RCA power supply myself ?

I was told that my RCA T.V. Model #P52940, has a common problem of the power supply going out ? How can I replace this myself ??

NO! The legs to the regulator IC pack are close together. The IC must be desoldered and a new pack installed. I've seem experienced people get too much solder and create a solder bridge (a short) or apply too much heat that the solder pads lifted off the board.
