First, try a reset. Unplug the power cord for a few hours and try again.
Second, try the jiggle and wiggle test; just shake the set around or bang it with your fist to see if the cause is from a loose connection. Wiggling and jiggling the set can often wake up a bad internal connection or cold solder joint.
Finally, if you cannot fix it I suggest you try the local thrift shop. I see good working used tvs all the time for under $20. On senior day or special sale days they are sometimes as low as $5 or this size.
Unfortunately, if the repair is serious it will cost more than replacing it with a used one. A new LCD flat panel set will be much, much more to replace; more like $250 and up.
