Mend RCA 34" Works Fine Power

TV WORKS FINE.. Then Fades to a Black WHY?

My Grandpa is giving me this Tv. One night while he was watching the TV a Power surge hit. (Evedently) so every time u turn it on about 5 mins or so the tv fades to a black why is this? and can it be fixed Easy? its a 34" RCA TV

If it fades very gradually it's nearly always due to poor solder connections to the tube heaters.

However, there are many reasons it may go black suddenly.
